Summary of NECTA's History

After Tanzania Mainland had pulled out of the East African Examinations Council, in 1971 and before NECTA was established by Law, in 1973, the Curriculum and Examinations Section of the Ministry of Education was responsible for all examinations. With the establishment of NECTA, the Examinations became its responsibility in accordance with the law

A total of 646,148 candidates for Form Two tomorrow, November 9, are expected to start the Form Two National Examination Examination while Form Four will begin the National Examination November 23 to December 11, this year.

 Giving the schedule today in Dar es Salaam, the Executive Secretary of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECT), Dr. Charles Msonde said the fourth standard examination test is expected to take place at 4,948 secondary schools in mainland Tanzania and that all preparations have been completed.

 He said among the candidates, 301,831 boys or 46.71 percent while 344,317 girls or 53.29 percent.

 "These examinations start tomorrow November 9 to 20 this year, in addition, there are 731 special candidates and 406 are visually impaired, 55 are blind, three are hearing impaired and 267 are physically challenged.

 "In 2019 the number of registered candidates was 609,502, so there is an increase in the total number of 36, 646 candidates equivalent to 5.7 percent per annum
